It’s easy to shop online for tech gifts.  But, what if you’re on the other side?  If you’re the seller, or in technical support terms, the e-commerce site, you have to make sure your site is in order to prepare for the influx of online visitors.  The Street, well known for its investing and financial ideas, spotlighted my strategy for small business owners prepping their e-commerce sites for the biggest online day of the year, Cyber Monday.

Laurie Kulikowski, the reporter for The Street, asked some great questions in the How to Prep Your Web Site for Cyber Monday article, and I was happy to relay the best computer support strategy for website owners.  A special thanks to Laurie for really targeting the right topics to make this the perfect guide for website owners selling products and services.  It may be used for Cyber Monday, but it also an effective tool to use all year long.

Another note I’d like to add for e-commerce site owners is to make sure there is good follow up to purchase excess inventory.  Website owners will undoubtedly overstock products.  So, give a special way to customers to by overstocked items on the following Tuesday or Wednesday for less.  Maybe call it Not-too-late Tuesday!  This will allow owners to unload on excess stuff and still keep the special rates or less for customers.
