Many phones have tried, but many have failed. They tried to win on faster speed, more apps, and stronger hype. But, the best of the rest hasn’t come close. The iPhone has been superior for several years, but they might be sharing the top spot this summer when Sprint’s new phone comes into the picture.
Here are some key features of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G:
- 4.3-inch beautiful screen – the iPhone only has a 3.5-inch screen
- 2 cameras! The back one is an impressive 8-megapixel camera for photos and HD-capable video. The front 1.3-megapixel camera is tailored for video chat and self-portraits – the iPhone only has 1 2-megapixel camera
- Multitasking? No problem. iPhone? Well, sort of. Apple provides more of a slight of hand technology where if you have 2 apps open, say iTunes and Skype, one will be frozen from using system resources while accessing the other. Yes, the end result of multitasking is accomplished, but running more than 2 apps at once might freeze the system entirely unlike with the Sprint phone.
- How about a kickstand? The sprint phone allows you to prop it up with a stand for easy video watching. iPhone? Not so much.
- And last, but not least…4G! What’s the difference between Sprint’s 4G and the iPhone’s 3G network? 10 times the difference. Sprint’s 4G is 10x faster than the iPhone’s 3G network. Yes, the iPhone 4G prototype is in the works, but the Apple 4G network will take a while to become available in your local NYC tech support area.
If you’re sick of the iPhone hype bandwagon, try out Sprint’s new phone. The only possible negative is the phone’s 1GB internal storage, but you can upgrade to an 8GB microSD card. Our sources say the phone is expected to arrive in stores on June 22 and priced at only $199. Even if you don’t use this as a phone, it makes for a great DVD player and camera. Computer support for this phone is supposed to be straight-forward as it works with Macs and PCs.
