So.cl, pronounced Social, is the new social network site on the block. This new social kid is courtesy from none other than Microsoft support. You can follow people like Twitter. Like Pinterest, you can choose to follow categories. Instead of liking like Facebook, you can smile at others’ posts. Your profile actually pulls in your Facebook photo and you fill in the rest. Hey, it’s not easy following the bigwig social media sites.
Here’s a rundown of what you can do on So.cl:
- Follow what friends and experts are interested in
- Follow people and things
- Search and see what your friends are browsing
- Post YouTube videos to share with friends
Should you use So.cl? It’s like a snooping Facebook. What I mean by that is its nature is to peek in on what your friends are doing, see what sites they’re searching and return the favor. This is cool if you have a tight group of friends. Or if you really dig Pinterest for that matter.
This site has a strong dose of Pinterest with a pinch of Facebook thrown on top. If you like both sites, then you’ll enjoy So.cl. It is not too tech support heavy so you can set it up yourself. One notable, well-advertised feature, is the Video Party, where you can start a video chat with friends. Overall, the layout is clean, especially for Microsoft service, and is easy on the eyes to work with. It’s worth a glance.
In the intent to make the site look like a launch party, Microsoft will send you an email invite after you sign up. Nice touch.
