So, you finished your Word document on your Mac and realized that there are no red underlines under the misspelled words. What gives? How do you fix it?
Here’s the simple fix:
- In Word, go to Tools->Languages->select English
- Uncheck the Box that reads Don’t check spelling
More times than not, that will fix it. Even if your Spell check worked completely fine before, an Apple update or Word version upgrade might have removed the spell check option. So, give that a shot first. Also, for whatever reason, the default language sometimes changes to a non-English language which could cause spell check problems.
If that doesn’t work and you have a big document that you cannot recreate, I’d suggest copying and pasting all of the text to another document. Sometimes, a document you work on for a long time may get corrupted and cause functions, such a spell check, not to work.
If all of the above don’t work, you should seek out Mac support or a Microsoft Word expert.
