Looking for an Outlook or Mac Mail substitute? Tired of email overload? Alto may be your next email software client. Or app. Well, it’s not a full fledged software you buy from the store. Instead, it acts more like the iPad mail app and is just as fast.
Why use Alto? It allows you to take your AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud email account and configure it like you would for Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird, Entourage or another software client for email support.
Is Alto worth trying? It loads faster than a regular email software client and has a unique organization structure called stacks. It essentially pre-organizes your emails for you in a graphic representation. Daily deals, photos, and social invites will be lumped in their own stacks. It’s a nice feature since it’s easier to see emails by pictures versus the typical email list that you’re used to seeing. Plus, your stack breaks down the number of emails, unread, most active, and other stats to quickly check. So, if you want to better organize your email, but don’t have time, Alto is a solid email solution for you.
Like on your iPhone or iPad, there are quick social links to send pics to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Google Docs and Calendar are integrated which is a smart way to compete with Google. If you can’t beat them, just use their products and email services! The downer is when composing new emails. The compose box is very small prompting it to scroll down when more space is needed. I guess you shouldn’t be writing a long book anyway for new emails.
Overall, Alto is a great email interface to work with. I’ve saved the best info for last. This is created by none other than AOL. I figured I would save that for last so you wouldn’t be biased before reading this review.
