The new Mac Pro is out. And I’d argue that it’s small footprint may compete with consumers going with that versus the iMac. If you already have a big Apple monitor or another one, why not go with the Mac Pro? Well, one thing may hold you back, the space. It comes with a 256GB solid state drive (SSD) and may only be upgraded to 1GB of space.
That’s really not a lot especially since the Mac desktops have always been produced to be work-horse, picture-editing, video-chugging machines. Of course, you can put in a higher capacity hard drive up to 4GB or such after you buy the machine. But, you are limited to really one drive since the whole Mac Pro is a tiny, consolidated unit.
Beyond the lack of storage space, the Mac Pro is pretty fast and can tap out at 64GB of RAM along with a 3.7GHZ quad-core Xeon processor. It also has four USB 3.0 ports, six thunderbolt 2 connections, one HDMI port, bluetooth 4.0 port, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi connection. The gravy part is that it may support up to 4K TVs with 4K video output. If you’re a TV buff, buying the Mac Pro is a no-brainer.
Expect to pay a pretty penny for the Mac Pro support at roughly $2,500 – $3,000. Hey, it’s the Apple support team who produced this after all! Should you buy it? If you don’t have a lot of files to save on your computer, then yes, it’s a great Mac product to try. However, if you need to save directly to your drive and not online, it’s not the Mac for you.
