Yes, you can set up a GPS app on your iPhone so you can track it from another phone or computer.  But, did you know that Apple has revealed that they are able and do, in fact, track all iPhones. Apple support is able to track exactly where you are at all times.  It’s a wonder why they look the other way when your iPhone is lost or stolen!

Specifically, the iOS 4 update in June 2010 made this Apple tracking possible. This update allows Apple to see the coordinates of the iPhone user along with timestamp.  That means Apple can see when and where you are.  A little spooky, right?  At first, I thought that maybe there is some chip within the SIM card that records this data, but the scientists who discovered the tracking iPhone service did not affirm this.  However, it has been said that Apple can move the target of tracking to a new phone if one is purchased.

This is really nothing new. ATT, Verizon, and other phone providers are able to track locations when necessary.  For instance, criminal cases may call upon phone providers to track where the accused was on a specific time of the day.  But, this is the first time that a computer service provider has been discovered to be proactively tracking all of its phone users.  Hopefully, they are just using this information for marketing purposes.  But, as always, it is very dangerous if it winds up in the wrong hands.  By the way, ff you are an iPad owner, you’re also able to be tracked.  That is if you have the 3G-enabled iPad.
