Let’s get some things out of the way first. The iPad is the best tablet out there. No argument there. After trumping the Kindle’s resolution and clarity specs, the Nook is the clear winner in the e-reader tablet world. When talking about the Nook, I’m focused on the Nook Color or Nook Tablet. Take your pick – they both have comparable color-screen resolutions and ease of book use, the tablet just is faster and the battery lasts longer.
So, the main question remains: If you have an iPad, should you still buy a Nook? The plain answer is yes if you are an avid reader. Yes, you can download books via Barnes & Nobles like you would on a Nook, but the Nook just is more reader-friendly. The Nook has an amazing feel and lightness to it. Also, it illuminates font, graphics, page turns, and navigation much more fluid and naturally than the iPad. Plus, you only have to charge it once a week. You can use your iPad for apps, email, games, videos, movies, music, and more and have your Nook as a dedicated e-reader. The Nook will also go on the Internet, access email, and the like, but the iPad is much more suited for those functions.
But, the more appropriate question is assuming you only have an iPad, do you buy books in the store or download them on your iPad? If you still buy books in the store, that means that most likely you won’t download them on your iPad and should look for another option. If you do download books via iPad support, then ask yourself if you’re content with the experience or go to Barnes & Noble to test the Nook to compare. Both tablets are equal in having very easy tech setups and ongoing user computer support experience and satisfaction rates. So, those factors are a wash.
The point is, at least for me, the less clutter the better. We’re are quickly becoming “all things digital.” There is no reason to have a book-full of library shelves as a display piece in your homee. You can make space at home by downloading your books on your iPad, or ideally, your Nook. If you are still taking up shelves with more books, then you should analyze your e-reader tablet and decide if your happy with your current iPad as your e-book reader, or if the Nook may be more your style. Just something to think about while you read your next book.
