- If you have a PC, use Microsoft’s built-in error checking utililty, called scandisk. Just go to My Computer, right-click on the C: drive->click Properties->choose Tools tab->Finally, select Check Now.
- If you have a Mac, go to the Utilities folder and start the Disk Utility.
For both Windows and Mac hard drive tests, they will verify and fix and bad sectors if possible. They will also let you know how many bad sectors or errors there are. Please note that a couple of bad sectors may be repaired, but if you have a lot, you should bring your computer to an nyc data recovery specialist or nyc computer repair store to ensure you do not lose data. Many times, lots of bad sectors means that your hard drive will crash soon. You should run these tests monthly as part of your computer maintenance plan.
