Backing up files in Windows 7 is easy. Just like the Apple has it own internal automated backup, Time Capsule, Windows 7 has its own automated backup also. There is no cool name like Time Capsule, but it works just as well.
Here’s how to set up an automated file backup in Windows 7:
- Connect a USB external hard drive to your Windows 7 computer.
- Go to Computer->right-click C: drive and click Properties.
- Select Back up now->Click Set up backup->Choose your external hard drive as the place to save your file backup
- In the What do you want to backup up section, it is recommended to Let Windows choose. But, if you’re a computer expert, feel free to select Let me choose.
- Review your settings and Click Save settings and run backup.
- Choose the schedule of how often to backup – monthly or weekly and what day and time. Make sure to keep your computer on for the specified time.
- Kick off your first backup and you’ve just created a file backup and image backup to restore your operating system for any computer issues.
