If you’re an old school-kind of guy or simply need to run your old DOS program in Windows 7, you’re in luck. I can walk you through a few steps to accomplish this. You don’t need to be a Windows 7 expert or PC expert to know how.Essentially, if you were able to run DOS in XP, then it will run in Windows 7. The exception is with 64-bit. DOS cannot run in 64-bit due to the formatting of the DOS program not being that high-level. But, there’s a work-around for that. Don’t worry.
Here’s how to run your DOS program in Windows 7:
- Just launch it!
- If opening it doesn’t work, right-click file ->Properties->Compatibility tab and choose Windows 98 and Okay. Then, launch the program.
- If the two above steps don’t work, or if you have a 64-bit operating system, run VMware Player to run an older operating system inside Windows 7 to make DOS work.
