If you have a desktop at home or not in a high-traffic area, you can remove the login screen with password at startup. This works well at home, and not within a
computer office network. I will say that some
computer viruses have been known to infect a computer that doesn’t have a password. However, if entering the password at startup is a nuisance for you,
here’s how to remove the startup login for Windows 7 and Windows Vista:
- Go to Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Family Safety link
- Select User Accounts link -> Click Remove Your Password under Make changes to your user account area.
- Enter your current password when prompted and click Remove Password.
- Exit any open windows and restart your computer.
This process will allow you to start up your computer without any delays of entering your password. If you have a
slow computer, this may be a good idea so you can start up your computer, grab a cup of coffee, and then come back when your computer is fully started up. Seriously though, if you have backup programs or Windows updates that requires nightly or occasional restarts, this login removal will allow you to go about your business as usual in the morning without the login delay.
