How to import Outlook Express into Windows Mail – nyc e-mail support

Migrating to a new computer is typically straight-forward and the tech support level is moderate.  However, e-mail migration can be a little more difficult.  If you’re migrating from Windows XP to Windows Vista, your e-mail may need to be converted to support the new e-mail program.  For instance, Windows XP includes Outlook Express whereas Vista have the newer Windows Mail program.  This means you’ll need to convert your e-mail to the new Windows Mail program.

Here’s how to import Outlook Express into Windows Mail:

1. Copy and paste your Outlook Express emails to your Windows Vista computer.  The folder is inC:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataIdentitiesuser numberMicrosoftOutlook Express.  You can copy it to your Documents Folder on your Vista computer.
2. On Windows Vista, go to Start->All Programs->Windows Mail
3. Click File->Import->Messages->Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and Next
4. Select Import mail from an OE6 store directory->OK->Browse and click on Outlook Express folder in Documents
5. Click on Select Folder->Next->All Folders->Finish
