I’ve heard this so many times from customers: I just set up a new computer and a bunch of my songs are duplicated. How can I dedupe them? For awhile, there was no simple answer. Just remove the dupes or make sure your iTunes folder doesn’t have any dupes and then import them into iTunes.
Now, the iTunes experts out there decided to grace us with an automated deduper, called simply enough, DeDuper. It does all the brunt work for you, removing duplicate music from your music library. It costs $20 annually or $30 lifetime. You can go a step ahead and buy the whole TuneUp suite that includes: DeDuper, Clean, and Cover Art. Clean fills in mislabeled or missing song info, such as Track 01 or Unknown Artist. Cover Art goes ahead to fill in missing album artwork. The whole suite costs $40 yearly or $50 lifetime. This rate may go up or down depending if you have a discount code.
If you’re an iTunes junkie, or a neat freak, the DeDuper or the whole TuneUp suite is definitely a great computer support tool to have. It will instantly organize, dedupe, spell-check, and fill in missing artwork and titles. Next time you move to a new computer or just can’t control your duplicated songs and albums, you have no excuse. This software is definitely a good Mac or PC support tool to check out.
