Google has a knack for entering industries that are falling short. Search results, email, and now finding fares easily for hotels. Google wasn’t happy with the hidden rates, or the inability to find them easily when searching for hotels. Google has changed that with Hotel Finder.
What’s so special about Hotel Finder?
- Rates are easily visible and compared to the city average.
- Choose the cheapest rate from Travelocity, Hotels.com, Expedia and the hotel’s own site.
- Keep a shortlist of your hotel research for later.
- Don’t know where to go. See where is popular or look for the best deal.
- It’s Google! So it’s easy to browse and doesn’t have too much fluff getting in the way.
I really like the ability to be able to search the 3 big travel sites to see which offers the cheapest rate. I would have liked to see Orbitz Travel in there too. The nice touch is including the hotel’s own site and associated rates. How many times do you find yourself going back and forth between Expedia and the hotel directly to see which rate is better. With Hotel Finder, you don’t have to worry about that since it’s all included within the same hotel search.
Google really knows how to do it better on a technology support friendly front as well as just ease of use without computer issues or hassles. The one downside is that Google has only listed US cities for destinations. That means you cannot search internationally. But, it’s only a beta site and hopefully will grow to include Caribbean vacations!
