You never want to be in the situation of losing your child, be you do want to be as prepared as possible if the inevitable occurs. The FBI has gotten together with Apple support to produce a free FBI child ID app.  You can load it on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Here’s the deal. When a child is lost, the first thing authorities do is ask identifying questions, such as height, weight, hair color, and distinguishing features.  This takes critical minutes away from searching for the lost child, and this precious time could be the difference with finding or not finding the lost child.  You can be prepared and fill in all of this pertinent information on the FBI Child ID app.  You may also upload your child’s latest photo.  That way, if the unthinkable happens, you will be ready.  All you have to do is click the Call 911 button or Call National Center for Missing and Exploited Children button.

The good news is this info is not automatically sent to the FBI for record keeping. It is stored on your Apple device and only submitted to the FBI when clicking one of the panic buttons.  Also, the Apple genius technicians or Apple service centers won’t have access to your files.
