You’d like to upgrade to Mountain Lion? But, can you handle it? Or does your Mac have the minimum requirements necessary to support Mountain Lion?
Older hardware won’t be able to handle the cool Mountain Lion perks. Mostly, older graphic cards and 32-bit machines may be no match for the roar of the Mountain Lion.
If you have the following Macs, then Mountain Lion will run on your machine:
- xServe – early 2009 or newer
- MacPro – early 2008 or newer
- MacMini – early 2009 or newer
- MacBookAir – late 2008 or newer
- MacBookPro – mid/late 2007 or newer
- MacBook – late 2008 aluminum or early 2009 or newer
- iMac – mid 2007 or newer
How can you see what model you have? Just go to the Apple Menu->About this Mac->More Information.
Next, you have to make sure your operating system is at OS X 10.6 or higher. Finally, 2GB of RAM or higher is also required. So, for the Mac support upgrade to Mountain Lion, you’ll need a fairly new model, 10.6 or better, and 2GB or more. That’s it. If you don’t have what it takes, buy a new Mac that already has Mountain Lion installed.
