I don’t know about you, but I am the self-proclaimed weather man in my circle. My wife relies on me to predict when the rain is coming so she can dress appropriately. Our computer technicians stretch my capabilities a bit further by asking me which subways are affected by flooding. While dropping off my daughter for camp, fellow parents quiz me on the the chance of rain or the afternoon temperature.
I’ve taken on my role like a champ. More times than not, I’m right. But, I must confess that I cheat a little bit (okay, a whole lot) with some of my favorite weather apps. These apps are really on top of it. They’ll even show no rain although all TV weather forecasters predict cascading showers. The result: no rain. I’m not sure if they’re tapping into more efficient Internet sources, but they beat out the unpredictable full-time weather guys all the time, resulting in predicable weather results.
Here are my top two weather iPhone apps that are a must-have:
- Weather Live – For $2, this is really must most trustworthy weather app. For the past year, it has been spot-on with when the rain is supposed to come. It will even show you a visual of the clouds and sky through the day.
- Dark Sky – Perfect for the Is it beach weather app, this $4 app will tell you up to the minute when it will rain or be sunny which is perfect if you want to eek every bit of sunlight or outdoor time.
I’ll leave it at that to choose from. You really only want 1 – 2 weather apps to use or else too many more will drive you crazy. The one downfall with Dark Sky is it will only forecast the current day and no future days. But, if you want to see the weekly forecast, that ‘s what you use the Weather Live app for. In tandem, these two apps are all you need for a reliable weather forecast. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a meteorologist or iPhone service specialist to learn how to use these Apple support apps.
