The iPhone is the best smartphone out there, hands-down.  It is basically a media device, phone, computer, and more.  But, what’s a good device if you can’t share your files with your computer?  Or back up the files in case disaster strikes?

It is important to back up your iPhone files to prevent going through costly data recovery pricing if your iPhone crashes.  You should always back up your important photos, videos, and other files.  Also, you shouldn’t be limited to your iPhone for file sharing.  If you want to share a file with your Mac or PC, the iPhone doesn’t have software to allow this so you need to look elsewhere.  That’s where I come in!

Below please find the top 3 ways to back up and share files from your iPhone:

  1. Box.net – Free to store and share files up to 1GB and $10/month for 10GB.  It provides easy access for files and the ability to share files or whole folders.
  2. Dropbox – Free for up to 2GB and $10/month for 50GB.  It syncs all your computers and devices to the Internet and then places a sync folder with the files on each device.
  3. MobileMe – 60-day trial and then $99 for the year for 20GB of email and file storage.  It syncs mail, contacts, calendar, and files on Macs, PCs, and all devices.

If you don’t have email or don’t mind changing your email, MobileMe is the way to go since it also integrates mail, contacts, and calendar along with files for syncing.  Dropbox and Box.net are the top two for simply storing and/or sharing files with your iPhone and computers.  All three options have easy technical support guides to walk you through the process although they are easy to set up.
