This is a popular question, “What’s the best way to remote into my computer…for free?” Luckily, there is more than one choice, and this remote software options are really free, not just 30-day trials. Remotely accessing your computer may be done on your home or office computer. For example, say you’re at home and you need a document from the office. Just remote into your office computer and you’ll grab it. On the personal side, if you’re at work, and you want to make sure your home computer is downloading songs, uploading pics to Picasa, or otherwise, you can remotely access your computer at home. This also works nicely if you’re on vacation and want to access your computer.

- LogMe In Free – This is my personal favorite. It works fast and securely. You can even add over a dozen of computers on your free account to remote into. I have heard some folks having computer issues with the resolution, that it’s hard to view the remote computer, but just make sure you tweak the video to your liking.
- Gbridge – This free software goes a step above to allow file sharing, folder syncing, and auto backups along with remote access. Typically, these extra IT services require you to upgrade to a paid account, but this one surprisingly offers it for free. It’s drawback is that the software is only limited for Windows support.
- TeamViewer – Windows and Mac support compatible, this remote solution offers VoIP, video, and conference call options. The computer install is a bit different in that it offers a no-install, memory resident client to be set up for quick access. Nice touch! Keep in mind this is limited to non-company IT support access.
I’m a big fan of the LogMe In Free version. It works great and is secure. Keep in mind though that the free version doesn’t offer printer support. You’ll need to pay extra to be able to print from your remote computer. For example, if you’re at home remotely accessing your work computer and need a to print out a document. You can print it out on your home printer although your are linked into your work desktop. Pretty cool, right? That being said, printer needs is typically rare and you should be able to get by on the free version.
