Since our NYC computer repair shop is right on the busy 34th Street of Midtown, we have hung a neon sign in our window displaying our computer services, i.e. data recovery, Mac repairs, PC repairs, virus removal. It has been up for good year, but for some reason, the bright red and green letters have recently affected a very nice Yeshiva University student who lives across from us. Specifically, the sign has left her a little sleep deprived. While she’s trying to catch some z’s, she is being woke up by the flashing New York Computer Help sign.
Obviously, I don’t want anyone to lose sleep over a computer repair sign! So, in order to work with the student, we arranged to turn off the sign at 11PM so she can get uninterrupted sleep. Also, we would turn on the sign at 6AM in the morning as kindly agreed by her. But, I didn’t want to manually turn off and on the sign every day. So, I looked for an automated way for this power on/off process. Luckily, I found a product from Amazon called the GE 57698 24-hour Power Strip Timer. For only $17.54, I was able to plug my neon sign into this power strip and then schedule for it to turn off at 11PM and turn back on at 6AM. Problem solved!
Along with having 8 outlets, this power strip can be a great energy saver for air conditioners, lights, TVs, and other electrical devices. The tech support and setup instructions for it was awful, but what can you expect for under $20!
