AT&T is looking to show they are better than Verizon. How can they do that? By taking over T-Mobile! That’s right. For $39 billion, AT&T is looking to buy T-Mobile to improve call quality and broadband availability. That would make AT&T the largest cellular carrier in the US with 130 million customers.
Before that can happen, it must pass federal approval. Of course, monopoly and unfair competition might hinder this deal. I’m sure Verizon will have something to say about this.
On the positive end, with this deal, there will be more towers meaning more service and less drops for AT&T customers. Also, AT&T will now resell the T-Mobile phones, enhancing their product variety. On the negative end, the AT&T tech support might suffer if they don’t ramp up more computer support folks to help with their smartphones and email support.
